One of our Year 4 pupil, has won the National Literacy Trust Story Explorers competition.
To enter the competition pupils had to create a map or explorer’s guide to their favourite book. One of our pupil created a beautiful and detailed map of Harry Potter. All children in Key Stage Two were asked to create an entry as part of their homework. Many pupils created brilliant entries which were submitted to the National Literacy Trust.
The pupil commented, "I felt really surprised when they said that my project was one of the best ones. I'm super proud that I am in the top twenty five. I went red in the face very quickly and I also felt a smile coming up. Harry Potter is one of my favourite series of books. And I'm proud I am one of the winners!"
At our school all our teachers work so hard to ensure that our pupils love reading and this award, which includes an author visit, will help us to continue to inspire children to read!
Steven Butler, author of popular series Diary of Denis the Menace and Wrong Pong, will be visiting Elmhurst on 26th February. We can’t wait!
